Miscarriage,
Infant Death & Stillbirth Group, Inc. (M.I.S. Group) Miscarriage, Infant Death & Stillbirth Group, Inc. (M.I.S. Group) is a non-profit organization for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, infant death or stillbirth. Begun in 1986, it is a refuge for the bereaved to obtain support and information from facilitators who have themselves gone through the grieving and healing process. The M.I.S. Group can help you explore your feelings at your own pace and seek more information when you’re ready. For instance, grief is a crucial topic of discussion. Although it is such a powerful force, our society often minimizes it. Research tells us that society will let us grieve for two weeks, which means that people have very little patience or no idea how long it takes to recover from a crisis. Grief is an important part of the healing process. No two people experience grief in the same way. In addition to being a forum where you can communicate your grief, the M.I.S. Group is also a clearinghouse of information on the subject. We can recommend books and websites for further reading, and refer you to related support groups, if appropriate. |
